Experienced scholar, educator, and activist, committed to critical and intersectional approaches to sex and sexuality education that bridge theory and practice.
Dr. B. is a kinky, genderqueer, sapiosexual, pansexual, Leathergirl, Femme Chicana and Hip-Hop Feminist, Generation Xer, and Dominant. Since graduating with her doctorate in Performance and Cultural Studies she has held academic appointments at universities across the country while traveling extensively to speak about her research nationally and internationally for over twenty years. Dr. B’s award winning and nationally recognized activism, teaching, and research in queerness and Latina/o/x/e Studies include foci in the experiences of BIPOC folx, Chicana, Black, and Hip-Hop Feminisms, kink, BDSM, and sex work. She has written two books, served as co-editor for six books, and published numerous academic articles and book chapters. She is also an active member of her local kink community where she can find joy in bridging theory and practice. Dr. B runs the Patreon ChingonaKinkPhD where she offers Chicana and Hip-Hop Feminist perspectives on Kink, BDSM, and femme fashion. She also facilitates dialogues focused on kink related topics monthly locally at @AsYouLikeItShop in Eugene, Oregon. Topics facilitated include Fierce Femme-in-ities, Masculinities in Kink, What’s Race Got to Do With It?: Race, Power, and Identity in Kink and BDSM, Polyamory (March 2026), Leather Culture (April 2026), and Stress Relief: Exploring Your (Kinky) Self Through Art (May 2026).
