Pushy Riot

(He/Him & She/Her)

Profile Details

If people were cookies, Pushy Riot would be a whole wheat and honey graham cracker. Earnest, wholesome, and deeply silly, he goes great with melted chocolate and a roasted marshmallow. (The chocolate is Pushy’s neurodiversity. The flaming marshmallow is queer kink.)

Pushy has kicked around in the mid-Atlantic, Northeastern, and Midwestern kink scenes on and off since 2011. Now a resident of Albuquerque, NM, Pushy is a demisexual, sapphic service top who enjoys hosting small-group rope jams at the local queer club and offering Catholic religious play tastings at events.

Formally diagnosed with ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, and an auditory processing disorder at a young age, Pushy had the extraordinary luck to be able to access the accommodations, external supporters, and classes on disability studies that were critical to his success in formal education. His experiences drive him to pursue opportunities to serve as a young adult educator for people ages 12-22. Every week, Pushy designs lesson plans that center neurodiversity. He recognizes that improving learning experiences for learners who are traditionally left at the margins makes his classroom a lot more fun, exciting, and accessible for everyone learning with him.

Stop Stressing, Get Action: Create Your Container for Pick-Up Play

Class Description

At the social mixer before the dungeon opens, I take a seat in the corner, hold my breath, and wonder how the hell I’m supposed to tell if someone is into the same things I am. Even a mild intro – “Hi, can you tell me about what you’re into?” – feels like nebulous floundering.

I hated that feeling, so I stopped doing it that way.

Now, before I attend an event, I create a mini-flyer to help me broadcast what I want. If someone’s interested, I use a follow-up questionnaire to structure a conversation about what we’re each looking for.

In this workshop, I will show you an example of how my containers work. Then, you’ll follow some prompts to help you create your own containers. Ultimately, you’ll leave with two tools to help you get to the action in pick-up play a little more easily.
